Sketch to Street Style: MBFW x Nanette Lepore

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week followed Nanette from her beginning sketches when prepping for her Fall ‘14 runway show to the final looks that hit the runway to the streets with blogger Natalie Suarez from Natalie Off Duty.

"Being constantly inspired by my own passion for home decor, I launched Nanette Lepore Villa because it was a natural extension of my brand and I wanted to make pieces I could imagine in my own home."
The hand painted shoe. With only days before the show as the final looks began to be styled for what would eventually hit the runway, Nanette decided the grey snake-embossed heel that she originally wanted was now too light for the rest of the collection. Julie, our print designer, came to the rescue once again.
"I presented Nanette with a few different options and then together we decided which would work best. First I tried a light grey outer layer [on the shoe], then we tried matter black all over and Nanette liked that best. I only used black black acrylic paint. It was great because the acrylic dried quickly and matte so it looked like a professional finish… But don’t worry, for production we’re going to do it correctly."
