The hand painted shoe. With only days before the show as the final looks began to be styled for what would eventually hit the runway, Nanette decided the grey snake-embossed heel that she originally wanted was now too light for the rest of the collection. Julie, our print designer, came to the rescue once again.
"I presented Nanette with a few different options and then together we decided which would work best. First I tried a light grey outer layer [on the shoe], then we tried matter black all over and Nanette liked that best. I only used black black acrylic paint. It was great because the acrylic dried quickly and matte so it looked like a professional finish… But don’t worry, for production we’re going to do it correctly."
