Hand painting a dress. With just 2 days left before the runway show, Nanette decided to change the color of one of her dresses. Julie, our print designer, painted the fabric by hand.
she explains how she did it:
“[I] painted over the flowers with fluorescent pink paint to preserve the luminosity, then do a wash of burgundy over the entire fabric and then go in and paint with a deep purple over the shadows of the flowers. I use a soft body acrylic paint so that the fabric doesn’t get too stiff. In this end, the print has a midnight glow to it.”
I think both versions are absolutely fantastic, but I think the final product is definitely a favourite for me.
